I’ve been failing to get my fill of flying since I started flying lessons in 1997. I served as a Soaring Instructor Pilot at the US Air Force Academy, flying the TG-4A and TG-10B/C/D. After college, I flew the B-1B, U-28A, T-6A, and E-11A for the US Air Force for 11 years. This included 312 combat missions, flying aircraft on four continents.

I still serve as a Reserve Admissions Liaison Officer for the USAF Academy, but do my full-time flying on the B737 for a major US airline. I also do some flight instruction on the side. I focus on glider add-on ratings and endorsement, military-to-GA transition, uncommon or experimental aircraft checkouts, and do a little seaplane instruction in the Icon A5.

I’ve written about aviation for The Pilot Network, BogiDope.com, and more. I also published Pilot Math Treasure Bath a book that smells a lot about a masterclass in personal finance, yet aims to help pilots get more fulfillment out of their careers in the military or airlines. If you or someone you love is considering a career in professional aviation, it’s a must-read.
